How Kitomba’s getting ready for the GDPR

17 Apr 2018 by Kitomba

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is coming into effect on 25 May 2018, so we wanted to let you know how Kitomba is getting ready for this change.

What is the GDPR?

The GDPR is an update to existing data protection regulations. This update is aiming to change the way customer information is used and managed, by giving customers more control over their own information and tightening rules around how it’s collected.

Who does the GDPR apply to?

The GDPR applies to all businesses operating in the EU. The UK has indicated they will be applying similar changes to UK legislation.

How is Kitomba getting ready for the GDPR?

We’ve been working with a specialist GDPR team to ensure Kitomba is compliant with the new regulations by 25 May 2018.

Here’s an overview of what we’re doing to get ready for the GDPR:

  • We’re putting together a Data Processing Addendum (DPA). The DPA outlines our privacy commitments, and sets out the terms for Kitomba and our customers to meet the GDPR requirements. We’ll be in touch soon with more information regarding this.
  • We’re currently reviewing our Privacy Policy. This will be updated prior to 25 May 2018. You can view our current Privacy Policy here.
  • Kitomba staff contracts are being updated and everyone is being trained to ensure we are correctly using and processing your business’s information.
  • We’re completing an investigation to ensure our software supports the GDPR regulations.
  • Internal processes are being updated to ensure we can comply with the GDPR regulations.
  • We’re reviewing contracts and agreements with our partners such as MailChimp and ZenDesk to ensure they are compliant with the GDPR.
